You may have noticed over the past couple weeks a few new faces taking the stage, and it's only right they have a proper introduction! So our next series of background check will focus on all these new chicks clipping in and kicking booty. First up, our girl Ashley. Keep reading to find out more about this upbeat, bubbly blonde leading the pack.
1) Sweet or Salty?
I consider myself to be a frozen yogurt connoisseur, so definitely sweet! We knew we liked her...
2) Best advice for a beginner?
Spin is not easy...especially trying to hit that double time (just ask Jenn it took me FOR-EV-ER). If it makes you feel good, then that is all that matters. Don't worry so much about the choreography, just have fun and don't give up! AMEN. Let the instructors be your cheerleaders YUP, and push your limits. You'll always get something out of it...I promise! SO TRUE! Some days you feel like a superhero with limitless energy and strength, some days you feel like you have cement in your shoes and you don't know your left from your right. It happens to EVERYONE. The important thing to remember is that you are there for you, so as long as you feel good we consider that a win. There is always something to strive for which is the best part of spin! You will find ways to get faster and add more gear, but that unfortunately means it's never gonna be easy :)
3) Celebrity crush?
Despite the fact that he played for the Jets, Eric Decker for sure!! We can get down with that answer, and don't worry, Ash, we won't tell your new FIANCE!
4) Outside of spin, what is your 9-5? What do you do?
I teach kindergarten at the Rollins School in Lawrence (and she still has this much energy during class?!?!). I am also the Varsity Cheerleading Coach at Andover High. Ohhh that explains it! In the summer I run cheerleading camps through Andover Recreation. In my spare time (what does that even mean??) I love to spend time with my fiance, family, friends and my English bulldog, Rosie! Don't ask Ashley what Rosie did to her brand new spin shoes....
5) Favorite song to sprint to?
Burn it to the Ground by Nickelback. Who doesn't love a throwback to get your legs burning, heart racing and sweat dripping??
6) Backstreet Boys or NSYNC?
Backstreet Boys. I mean they went on tour with Florida Georgia Line...HELLO, best concert EVER. YASSSS
7) Best advice you have ever been given?
If you are ever roaming the halls of Doherty Middle School (did we mention Ashley is an Andover native?!) you'll see it. It is one of my favorite quotes. "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice". I don't think there is anything we can add to that-the perfect reminder to be nice for no reason, you never know who needs it.
8) What is the biggest risk you have ever taken? Did it pay off?
Aside from testing out my natural hair color?? (let's be honest, we can all relate) I would have to say trying out for the New England Patriots Cheerleaders in 2010. I was fortunate enough to make the team and be part of the organization for 2 years. The experiences that I had were amazing and the friends that I made along the way were irreplaceable. Did we ever tell you in training Ashley didn't use a microphone because she was louder without one?? Now you know where she gets it ;)
9) What do you love most about spin?
My day to day can be extremely stressful and I quickly found that at WheelHouse you can leave all that at the door. I love the way spin makes me feel confident, strong and accomplished. I can only hope that those who attend my classes feel the same way! Spin is far more than just physical. Sweat therapy is a real thing, and sometimes going to clear your mind for 45 minutes is more beneficial than you can imagine.
10) If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?
My English Bulldog, Rosie. We had a feeling that answer was coming. Don't worry, Dennis, I am sure you were a close second!
So now you know! Ashley is a genuine gem inside and out. Check her out Mondays at 4:30pm for the perfect afternoon pick me up!
