background check: lauren orsillo
Lauren is a WheelHouse OG, but she hasn't always rocked the instructor stage. Before she took the leap of faith, she rocked our front desk like nobody's business. She knows your name, your shoe size, who won the big soccer game last weekend, and now she knows your favorite bikes. Keep reading to learn more about our Lauren and what made her decide the big stage was where she belongs! (And she certainly does belong there)
1) What is your zodiac sign?
Virgo. According to ancient philosophy, AKA Google, Virgos are hardworking, kind and loyal. Look up Lauren Orsillo and all those boxes are checked. She is sweeter than candy, works her butt off, and will do anything that needs to get done. Another characteristic of Virgos is that they are shy. That is where we have to disagree. You will never find this spitfire shying away from anything, a conversation, a challenge, or a nice long arm song. So, we do think Lauren has all the great qualities of a Virgo, but we just can't agree with all of them.
2) Hills or sprints?
SPRINTS! There's something about sprints that allows me just to let go of anything that I am holding on to. When I'm sprinting I'm 100% focused on the goal. She may be focused on the goal, we are focused on not passing out. Either way, Lauren is going to take you outside your comfort zone and make you go the distance with her.
3) What is your favorite movie of all time?
PITCH PERFECT 1&2!!!! I listen to the sound tracks probably too much and I've definitely watched them too many times too. Sounds like we have heard this answer before...(Jaime). Tandem ride anyone??? It'll be ACA-AWESOME!
4) What is the best advice you have for beginners.
I feel like I've heard the phrase "I want to try spin but I'm nervous" so many times. So my first piece of advice would be don't be nervous! Especially in an environment like WheelHouse. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it makes you excited and motivated to workout! Take it from me. I used to sit in the back and now I'm on the stage....You never know how much you are going to fall in love with something until you try! We couldn't agree more. Your first class is always free, so you have nothing to lose. Let go of self doubt, go in open minded, and come out feeling inspired! Remember that at some point we all were beginners, those first couple pedal strokes will always be the hardest, after that you will be smooth sailin'!
5) What is your guilty pleasure?
Binge watching New Girl on Netflix...and Cape Cod Chips. Sometimes if I'm feeling crazy I'll eat Cape Cod Chips AND watch New Girl. WATCH OUT WORLD...THIS GIRL IS WILD! But really..who doesn't love a good binge sesh and some chips???
6) What do you love most about spin?
Spin has given me so much over the last year I don't even know where to start! First, spin has introduced me to so many people who have become best friends. Second, it became a stress reliever for me, 45 minutes to focus on yourself and nothing else. Lastly, spin has given me the opportunity to help others reach their health goals. Having a background in health and wellness has completely changed the way I view things. Any chance that we can all come together and work towards a healthier lifestyle is right up my alley. Plus, it's a fun way to workout! There is something so powerful about a workout that you can't always put your finger on. And it is not entirely physical. There is so much mental strength and clarity that comes from it. And the endorphins don't stink either! The best way to get the most out of your time in the saddle is to truly just let go. Leave everything outside those doors, the phone, the e-mails, the kids, the job, anything....those 45 minutes are 45 minutes of YOU time...USE IT!
7) What is the best advice you ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is" never stop learning". I feel like it is so easy to become comfortable and content, which is why I'm always looking for ways to switch up my routine, and learn something new whether it's school, work or just a hobby. LOVE THIS. As instructors, we never stop learning. That is why you will so often see other instructors in your class. We learn from each other, and we learn from you guys. Take this advice and fit it into your life. Never stop learning, never settle, and never stop reaching.
8) Chocolate or Vanilla?
CHOCOLATE! I love everything about chocolate. Nutella is a gift from above, I'll leave it at that. I wonder if she has ever thought to dip Cape Cod Chips in Nutella...we may have just changed her life.
9) Who is your celebrity crush?
Oh, I have to go with Brett Eldredge. He always has been, always will be my celebrity crush. Between those eyes and that voice, he's a winner. We will let Lauren have a minute. And hope her lovely gentlemen doesn't read our blog. (But let's get real...who doesn't read this masterpiece?!)
10) What is one thing you can't leave the house without?
I can't leave the house without hand sanitizer. I keep one of those travel size bottles in every bag and one in my car. Flu season is upon us, have to keep those germs away! Wash your hands, sweat out your toxins, and keep healthy this season!
So that is a little bit on Lauren. If you haven't taken her class
