background check: elise caira

You may have noticed over the past few months we have added a few new faces to our schedule. It can be hard being the new kid, so we are going to take this opportunity to introduce you to one of our fresh faces, Elise! Some of you have already had your butt kicked by this calm, yet ferocious chick, but we wanted to give you a better idea of who she is off the bike! I know you have all been on the edge of your seat for our next background check, so here goes nothing. Elise:

What is your zodiac sign?

I was born on the first day of summer, June 21st, so I am a Cancer. I looked at the traits for Cancer's, and the juries still out on if I'm in the right bucket. Well...I did a little digging into what a Cancer is all about. They are tough, loyal, strong and independent. Check, check, check if you ask us. But...they also have the tendency to be unpredictable or moody. The reason I bring this up is, well, because she may be hard to read in the saddle. One minute your highest hill, BOOM the next you are flying. She may even use you guys to take her anger out on..who knows!

What is one thing you always have with you?

One thing I ALWAYS have with me (even against my boyfriend's will at times) is my cell phone. (Preaching to the choir, girl) I feel disconnected from the world without it. For those of you who know me well, You know I am super into Instagram (@EliseCairaFitness), so I'm constantly on my phone posting or finding new workouts etc. Even though social media can get hated on at times, I use it as a source of inspiration and motivation for my health and fitness goals. Check her out...she's legit.

It's Friday night, what is your drink of choice?

I am a huge IPA fan, love my hoppy beers, but if the night calls for it, I always tend to reach for Gin and Tonics. That Cancer sign is proving to be true..unpredictable even in her drink choices!

How do you stay motivated?

I get asked this all the time because many of my friends think I am insane for waking up at 5am to workout everyday. (If thats wrong, I don't want to be right) I really get motivated by the people I am with. When I'm not teaching, and getting inspired by all of you, I have a couple different friends I lift or train with. Working out is always better when you do it with someone you know, you always have them to hold you accountable. My best advice is find some friends and stay motivated together, its a lot easier to stay on track, and will push you to work harder. Buddy system- we hear ya!

What is your all time favorite movie?

Oh this is a tough one...but I have to go with Garden State. (Never seen it...thinkin it might be a 'netflix and chill' kinda Friday for me)

What is the best advice you have ever received?

My basketball Coach at Bentley said "no matter what you do in life, do it passionately. If you are going to half-ass something you might as well not do it". Stuck with me so much that I got the word 'passion' (in Japanese) tattooed. The good ole' college days.

Britney (Spears) or Christina (Aguliera)?

Britney. Got to love some of the old school Britney songs. If you haven't heard any in my playlist yet, just wait...they are coming! Oops...she did it again, she's about to make you Stronger, but you gotta work b*tch.

Hills or sprints?

I am definitely a hill person. I think it's more of a mental challenge to be able to push through and keep the beat without letting up. Are we starting to see a trend here? That's 3 instructors in a row that live for hills. Something tells me when its Erin's turn she may have a different response ;)

Favorite quote or song lyric?

"If something burns your soul with purpose and desire, it is your duty to be reduced to ashes by it. Any other form of existence will be yet another dull book in the library of life" - C. Bukowski

(mic drop)

What would you eat if you knew it was your last meal?

Pizza! Recently I've been obsessed with buffalo chicken, but really any topping will do. Favorite place at the moment is Portland Pie Co. in Reading. Add that to our movie night watching Garden State and a little G&T and we are set!

So there you have it. Everything you have been dying to know about Elise. Any unanswered questions you will just have to ask her yourself. You can catch Elise in the saddle Friday mornings at 6am and Sundays at 10:30am. Trust me- you don't want to pass up an opportunity to sweat with her!
